Whether you have roots in Poland, fell in the love with the country when traveling, eat Polish sausage whenever you're at a street fair, or simply can't help but smile when you see others dancing Polish folk dances ... we're glad you've found us! While you visit the website, we hope you celebrate Poland's rich heritage with us as well as its food traditions, and natural beauty ... and that you'll prepare some of the Polish recipes, enjoy visiting Poland through our photos and be inspired to join us in helping Poland's orphans. Care for Polish Orphans is dedicated to celebrating Polish heritage and helping improve the quality of life and well-being of Poland's orphans and make life easier for their caretakers too. While Poland gained its independence in 1989 after many hundreds of years of occupation and hardship, it's still a country working to make a successful transition from communism to capitalism. High unemployment is one challenge. Children left behind is another. A complicated foreign adoption system adds to the overall dilemma. It is hard to believe that thousands of children live in more than 700 orphanages across Poland. Even today, orphans go to sleep at night without anyone to call "Mom" or "Dad" (Matka or Ojciec) and their caretakers struggle to work magic with insignificant funding and inadequate support. When you donate to Care for Polish Orphans ~ a 501(c)3 charitable organization ~ we promise you that not more than 2% of your gift will be used for administrative purposes so that nearly all of your donation will go directly to the orphans, especially those who face challenges daily because of disabilities. With an all-volunteer board, you can feel confident that your donation goes directly to the children who need ... and will appreciate it most. If you are grateful for the many blessings of your life, we hope you'll want to make a difference in the lives of the most needy children in Poland. Won't you
